As a personal trainer, I’m always looking for ways to help my clients (and myself!) eat more protein—without sacrificing taste or time.


This High Protein Microwave Banana Oatmeal has been my go-to on busy mornings when I’m rushing between client sessions or squeezing in a workout before the day gets hectic. It’s naturally sweet, super filling, and comes together in under 10 minutes—all using pantry staples and a microwave!


It also reheats surprisingly well, which makes it perfect for prepping ahead if you’re into batch breakfasts.


What Makes This Oatmeal Special

✅ 30g of protein

✅ No stove required

✅ Naturally sweetened with banana

✅ Creamy texture with a swirl of peanut butter on top

✅ Customizable – add nuts, seeds, or berries!


Ingredients You’ll Need

• 1 large, ripe banana

• 1/2 cup quick oats (works better than old fashioned for microwave prep)

• 0.5 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk

• 6 oz liquid egg whites (from carton)

• 1 tsp cinnamon (or more if desired)

• 1 tbsp peanut butter


Step-by-Step Instructions

Other optional toppings:

  • cinnamon

  • chia seeds

  • banana slices

  • berries


⚠️ Use caution: the bowl gets hot! Let it cool for a minute before digging in.



FAQs

Can I use whole eggs instead of egg whites?

  • Yes, but the texture will be more custardy, and the fat/calorie content will increase.


Can I make this ahead?

  • Totally! Store in the fridge and reheat with a splash of almond milk. It’s also great cold!


What kind of oats should I use?

  • Quick oats work best for microwave cooking. You can pulse old fashioned oats in a blender a few times to mimic the texture if needed.
